Maturity Number

The maturity number is the sum of your life path number and your destiny number, reduced to a single digit or master number. It describes a theme that comes into focus in the second half of life, usually from around your mid-40s onward. Some numerologists call it the reality number instead.

How it's calculated

  1. Calculate your life path number and your destiny number.
  2. Add the two together.
  3. Reduce the total to a single digit, keeping 11, 22, or 33 as master numbers.

Example Life path 9 plus destiny number 8 gives 17, which reduces to 1 + 7 = 8. The maturity number is 8.

Common questions

Why does the maturity number only matter later in life?
Numerologists see it as a goal the earlier numbers grow toward, so its influence is usually described as building gradually rather than acting from birth.
Is the maturity number more important than the life path number?
No. It adds a later-life layer on top of the life path and destiny numbers, but it does not replace either one.
What is the reality number?
It is another name some numerologists use for the maturity number. Both terms describe the same calculation and the same second-half-of-life theme.
