Attitude Number

The attitude number combines the day and month of your birth, reduced to a single digit. It describes the surface attitude people notice before your life path number shows through. It uses the same formula as the sun number, and the two names are often used interchangeably.

How it's calculated

  1. Reduce your day of birth to a single digit.
  2. Reduce your month of birth to a single digit, if it is not one already.
  3. Add the two digits together and reduce to a single digit.

Example Born 14 March: the day reduces to 1 + 4 = 5, and the month is already 3. Adding 5 + 3 gives 8. The attitude number is 8.

Common questions

How is the attitude number different from the life path number?
The life path number uses your full date of birth. The attitude number uses only the day and month, so it captures a narrower, surface-level layer.
Is the attitude number the same as the sun number?
Yes. Both terms describe the exact same calculation, day of birth plus month of birth, reduced. Different numerologists simply prefer different names.
Does the attitude number ever change?
No. Because it comes from your fixed date of birth, it stays the same throughout your life, unlike cycle numbers such as the personal year.
