Karmic Lesson Number

A karmic lesson number is any digit from 1 to 9 that is missing entirely from the letter values in your full birth name. Each missing digit marks a skill or quality that numerologists say is meant to be learned during this life. It is a different idea from karmic debt, which comes from specific two-digit totals instead.

How it's calculated

  1. Write out your full birth name and convert every letter to its Pythagorean value.
  2. List which digits from 1 to 9 appear at least once.
  3. Any digit from 1 to 9 that never appears is a karmic lesson number.

Example John Smith: the letter values used are 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9. The digits 3 and 7 never appear, so 3 and 7 are karmic lesson numbers.
