Fate Number Calculator
Two schools, two numbers, one page.
Ask what a fate number is and you get two answers. The German tradition calls the life path the Schicksalszahl, the number of fate, and reads it from the birth date. English-language numerology mostly uses the phrase for the number of the name. Enter both and see where they agree.

Why Two Answers
"Fate number" is a translation, and the sources it comes from do not agree. The German tradition reads fate from the birth date; the English-language books that borrowed the phrase mostly mean the number of the name. Rather than pick one, this page shows both.
- By birth date
- In the German and Central European schools the Schicksalszahl, the number of fate, is the life path: your full birth date reduced.
- By name
- In other Western books the fate number is the expression, or destiny, number: every letter of your birth name reduced.
