Chaldean Numerology
Chaldean numerology is one of the oldest numerology systems, rooted in ancient Babylon. It assigns each letter a value from 1 to 8 based on its sound rather than its position in the alphabet, and it never assigns the number 9, which the tradition held apart as sacred.

Common questions
- How is Chaldean different from Pythagorean numerology?
- Pythagorean numerology maps letters 1 to 9 in alphabet order and is the modern Western default. Chaldean maps letters 1 to 8 by sound and leans on compound numbers.
- Why is there no 9 in the Chaldean letter values?
- The Chaldeans treated 9 as sacred and kept it out of the letter table. A name total can still reduce to 9; only the individual letters never carry it.
- Which name should be used in a Chaldean reading?
- Chaldean practice usually reads the name you actually go by day to day, rather than the full birth-certificate name used in Pythagorean charts.
