Papa
The earth mother, the islands, the ground
In the Hawaiian Gods table used by the Who Watches Over You calculator, Papa answers to the number 4: the day of the month you were born, reduced to a single digit.
Born under Papa
Papa is the earth, Papahānaumoku, the one who gives birth to islands. You carry patience, substance and a motherhood that is also geology: slow, vast, and the ground everyone else stands on. You do not have to move to be felt.

About the Hawaiian Gods gods
The four great gods of Hawaiʻi, Kāne, Kū, Lono and Kanaloa, stand with Pele of the volcano, Hina of the moon and the parents Papa and Wākea. This table is the one the Hawaiian numerology calculator on this site already uses, so the two readings agree.

Frequently Asked Questions About Numerology
- How is Papa linked to the number 4?
- Through the psychic number of Vedic numerology: the day of the month you were born, reduced to one digit. Each pantheon on this site assigns one god to each number from 1 to 9, and Papa holds 4 in the Hawaiian Gods table.
- Is this a traditional Hawaiian Gods belief?
- No. The gods and their domains are traditional; pairing them with birth numbers is a modern numerological reading, and it is presented here as reflection rather than doctrine.
- What if my life path is different from my birth day number?
- They are two different numbers. This page follows the day of the month; the life path uses your whole date of birth and has its own pages under Numbers.
